Is there a free version of SnipTray?
Yes. The Free plan keeps your last 25 clipboard items, gives you one pinboard, and works on a single Mac forever — no credit card, no time limit. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited history, iCloud sync across all your Apple devices, and unlimited pinboards.
How is SnipTray different from Paste, Pastebot, or Maccy?
SnipTray was built around iCloud team sharing — none of the alternatives offer it. You can invite a teammate by email or iCloud handle and instantly share a pinboard with them, with role-based access and an audit log. SnipTray is also fully native Swift, sub-20 MB RAM, and syncs without any third-party server.
Where is my clipboard data stored?
Locally on your Mac, and (on Pro and Teams) in your private iCloud container. SnipTray has no servers of its own. We never see your clips, we cannot read them, and there is no analytics, telemetry, or tracking on the app or this website.
Is it safe to use a clipboard manager for passwords?
SnipTray automatically detects and excludes passwords, 2FA codes, and credit-card numbers from history. You can also add password managers like 1Password or Bitwarden to the App Exclusion List, so anything you copy from them is never recorded — period.
Does SnipTray work offline?
Yes. SnipTray is a native macOS app and your full clipboard history lives on your device. iCloud sync just adds the ability to access the same history from your iPhone, iPad, and other Macs. When you reconnect, everything syncs automatically.
